SEATTLE – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer tallied a late goal, but it wasn't enough for a comeback in a 2-1 loss at Seattle Pacific on Thursday night.
After a scoreless first half, SPU broke the deadlock with just over 20 minutes to play in the 68
th. Six minutes later, the Falcons added to their lead with a successful penalty kick to go up 2-0.
In the 87
th minute,
Ellie Ritter found space just outside the top of the box and fired a shot towards the upper left corner of the goal that SPU's keeper was able to just get a hand on for the save.
However, the ball fell right to the head of
Abbey Blancett, who headed it across goal and inside the right post to cut the deficit to 2-1. The goal was the second of Blancett's season, leading the team through seven games.
That goal was the final shot attempt of the match, however, as SPU held on for the win.
NNU will now travel to Billings to face MSUB on Saturday, Oct. 5 at noon.
