Nighthawks Host the Vikings in Their First Game of The Week

NAMPA, Idaho – NNU volleyball hosted their first game of the week at home this afternoon against the Western Washington Vikings. Losing in three the Vikings proved to be a tough matchup for the Nighthawks. 

NNU moves to 6-10 on the season and 3-5 in GNAC play as the head into the weekend. 


The Nighthawks came out ready to play after a long trip on the road last week. With a competitive match up against the Vikings the teams went back and forth with impressive offensive showings.However, towards the end of the set WWU was able to pull away taking the win with a score of, 25-16. Delaney Speer led her team to the win offensively with 7 kills. Maren Machado put down 4 kills, Kayci Spray picked up 6 digs, and Addison Lynn had 6 assists for the Nighthawks. 


NNU recovered and took the momentum back to start the second set. Building up a 7 point lead. However, working through the deficit the Vikings were able to battle back and take the second set win, 25-20. The Nighthawks recorded 13 kills with a percentage of .200. 


As the third set got underway both teams fought hard to secure the win.However, in the last leg the Vikings took it with a score of, 25-20. 


Maren Machado led the Nighthawks with 10 kills partnering with Addison Lynn who had 15 assists. Kayci Spray led her team defensively with 13 digs.


NNU will be back in the Johnson Sports Center on Saturday, October 19 as they host Simon Fraser at a 1:00 p.m. start time. Show up wearing pink in support of the Nighthawks Breast Cancer Awareness game as they partner up with the Sideout Foundation.
