PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC released the results of the 2024-25 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll on Thursday, with Northwest Nazarene picked third out of the 10 teams.
NNU earned 70 points in the poll, just edging out both Alaska Anchorage and Saint Martin's by only one point as the Seawolves and Saints tied for fourth at 69 points. Central Washington led the poll with 90 points and four first-place votes, followed by Montana State Billings with 85 points and three first-place votes. Three other teams earned one first-place vote: UAA, SMU, and sixth-place Western Washington.
The Nighthawks were selected second in last years' poll, and lived up to expectations by finishing as the runner-up in the final conference standings. NNU went 13-5 in GNAC play, just one game back of Montana State Billings at 14-4.Â
NNU kicks off the 2024-25 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 9 when they host Bushnell University for Homecoming. Just three days later, the Nighthawks host College of Idaho in the annual Mayors' Cup rivalry game on Tuesday, Nov. 12. NNU will play at home in the Johnson Sports Center for eight of their first nine contests, including when GNAC play opens on Dec. 5 against Western Washington.
