HAYWARD – With their fourth NCAA Championships berth in the last six seasons in hand, Northwest Nazarene men's basketball is preparing to take on Point Loma in the opening round of the West Regional on Friday afternoon.
The six-seed Nighthawks (18-10, 12-6 GNAC) will take on the Pacific West Conference champions and three-seed Point Loma (25-5, 18-4 PacWest) at 12:00 p.m. Pacific on Friday, March 13 at Cal State East Bay's Pioneer Gym, in Hayward.
The other matchups in the opening round on Friday in the West Regional are two-seed Saint Martin's (25-5) against seven-seed Hawaii Pacific (18-11) at 2:30, four-seed Alaska Anchorage (21-10) against five-seed Cal State Dominguez Hills (22-8) at 5:00 p.m, one-seed Cal State East Bay (30-0, 22-0 CCAA) against eight-seed Cal Poly Humboldt (17-14) at 7:30 p.m.
If the Nighthawks are to defeat Point Loma, NNU will then take on the winner of two-seed Saint Martin's and seven-seed Hawaii Pacific in the semifinals on Saturday night. The championship game is scheduled for Monday evening.
