PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC announced the 2022-23 Men's Basketball All-GNAC squads on Tuesday afternoon, with Northwest Nazarene's Gabriel Murphy and Tru Allen each receiving honors.

Murphy earned Second Team recognition after an Honorable Mention nod last season, while Allen was named Honorable Mention for the second-straight year.

Montana State Billings' Carrington Wiggins was named the GNAC Player of the Year and was joined on the First Team by the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year in teammate Bilal Shabazz, while the Yellowjackets' head coach Mick Durham earned Coach of the Year honors. Saint Martin's, who won the conference regular season, has the GNAC Newcomer of the Year in Branden Bunn as well as First Team honorees Jaden Nielsen-Skinner and Kyle Greeley. Western Washington's BJ Kolly earned the other special recognition as Freshman of the Year, while Seattle Pacific's Shaw Anderson and Western Oregon's Cameron Cranston grabbed the other two First Team selections.

Murphy led the conference in rebounding this year, averaging 8.8 boards per game, including a conference-high 3.5 per game offensively. He was also ninth in the GNAC with a 55.1 field goal percentage and 17th with 11.5 points per game.

He played and started in 21 of NNU's 26 games, grabbing at least 10 rebounds seven times and at least five in all but one contest, with a season-best of 14 against Western Oregon on Dec. 3. He also totaled a season-high of 24 points against Western Washington on Feb. 16.

Allen finished the regular season in a tie for the GNAC lead with 1.9 steals per game, serving as NNU's lockdown defender on every opponent's top guard. He was also 12th in the conference with 12.4 points per game and tied for 17th with 2.2 assists per game.

He was the Nighthawks' leading scorer during the season, notching double-figures in points in 18 of his 26 games with a pair of 20+ point performances, tallying 23 twice against Evergreen State on Nov. 12 and Cal State Los Angeles on Nov. 17. His season-best of five steals also came against Evergreen State, along with season-highs of 10 rebounds on Feb. 25 against Saint Martin's and nine assists against George Fox on Dec. 10.

The duo will now look to lead the Nighthawks at the 2023 GNAC Championships, as NNU has qualified as the six-seed and will open against three-seed Seattle Pacific on Thursday at noon Pacific in Bellingham.
