NAMPA, Idaho – The Nighthawks ended the weekend strong with an 8-5 win over the Mavericks.
The Nighthawks are now 6-10 on the season.
How it Happened
The first runs of the game were scored by Colorado Mesa in the top of the 2
nd inning. The Mavericks got to Nighthawks' starter,
Dylan Plutner, for four runs on three hits.
Nick Irwin came in to get the final out of the 2
nd inning. He went on to throw two and a third without allowing a run. In the meantime, NNU put up one run in the bottom of the 2
nd on a sac fly from
Kaden Miller.
The Nighthawks continued with four more runs in the bottom of the 3
rd inning.
Matthew Reynolds had an RBI single that scored
Mason Leavitt.
Kaleb Karpstein had a two RBI single to center field. Karpstein scored on an RBI double by
Austin Thomason.
The Mavericks tallied their fifth and final run in the top of the 6
th inning.
NNU tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the 7
th inning in their march to the 8-5 victory and series win.
Shane Martin threw 2.2 innings for the Nighthawks without allowing a hit.
Jonathan Zayas came in for 1.1 innings worth of work and got the win for the Nighthawks.
Joseph Ihli slammed the door with a double play ball and a strikeout to end the game.

The Nighthawks look to begin conference play next week with a four-game set at Western Oregon beginning on Friday.
