NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer fell 4-3 in their matchup against Western Oregon on Thursday afternoon.
The Nighthawks' record is now 2-4-3 overall and 0-1-2 in GNAC play.
NNU took 12 shots in the first half with eight of those shots on goal. The Wolves took a 2-0 lead in the first half despite the Nighthawks constant pressure.
NNU came out of the break firing on all cylinders.
Jim Wagenaar scored NNU's first goal in the 49
th minute with the assist coming from
Jakob Avila. In the 61
st minute, a foul in the box by WOU gave Wagenaar an opportunity to tie the game and he executed the penalty kick.
Western Oregon regained the lead at 3-2 with a goal in the 69
th minute.
Jim Wagenaar tied the game once again with a goal in the 79
th minute that was assisted by
Javier Luevanos. The Wolves scored the final goal of the match in the 89
th minute, bringing the match to the 4-3 final.
Jim Wagenaar is now at seven goals on the season. Seven different Nighthawks took shots on goal. NNU took 23 shots with 13 of them on goal in total.
The Nighthawks are on the road for their next four games. Their next match is against Montana State Billings on Thursday, October 12
th.
