HAYWARD, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer suffered a tough defeat on Saturday in a neutral-site match with Holy Names, falling 2-0 despite outshooting the Hawks 14-4.
How It Happened
Holy Names got on the board early on the first shot of the game, as Camila Juarez scored in the 12
th minute to make it 1-0 in favor of the Hawks.
NNU would notch five shots over the rest of the half, but four were saved by the HNU keeper with the other sailing out top right.
The Nighthawks then registered the first six shots of the second period, but could still not find a goal before HNU doubled their lead in the 68
th minute with a goal from Alyssa Duenaz.
NNU would earn a late corner in the final minutes, but could not convert and were held off the scoreboard in the 2-0 defeat.
Nighthawks Notes
- As mentioned, NNU outshot HNU 14-4, including 9-2 in shots on goal with both of the Hawks' attempts on frame going in and all nine of the Nighthawks' chances saved by the keeper
- The Nighthawks didn't allow a corner kick defensively while earning seven of their own
- Ashley Parton and Olivia Wicks each had two shots on goal, with five others registering one apiece
- Alexis Montoya played all ninety minutes in goal
