HAYWARD, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer opened the 2022 campaign with a tie on the road at Cal State East Bay, scoring late for a 2-2 draw.
 
How It Happened
 
NNU made the first tally early, as 
Sierra Sanchez scored off an assist from 
Makayla Roggow just eight minutes into the game.
 
That lead held for just six minutes, though, as East Bay knotted things at one in the 15
th. The Pioneers would take the lead just before halftime, scoring to make it 2-1 in the 42
nd minute.
 
Nearly all of the second period was scoreless, but it was NNU's 
Madison Grande who finally broke through to bring the match even at two with a goal in the 89
th. 
Magda Wronski assisted on the tying score.
 
Nighthawks Notes
	- NNU outshot CSEB 16-4 in the game, including 10-3 on goal.
- Grande put four shots on goal with six total attempts.
- With the new NCAA rule, regular-season games are ended after 90 minutes as a draw iif the score is tied. Postseason will still go to overtime and a shootout if necessary.

The Nighthawks will remain in Hayward to play a neutral-site contest against Holy Names on Saturday.
