NEW ORLEANS - The USTFCCCA released the Division II All-Region squads for the 2022 outdoor season on Wednesday afternoon, with six athletes from Northwest Nazarene earning the recognition.
Regional honors go to the top five performers in each event from each region. On the men's side,
Colton Burr and
Dylan Hendry both made the cut in the hammer,
Laurenz Waldbauer received the recognition in the javelin, and
Steven Schmidt earned regional honors in two events, the decathlon and the high jump. For the women,
Destany Herbert was a dual recipient in the hammer and the shot put while
Miya Koch added the accolade for the high jump.
Burr and Waldbauer were both Top Regional Performers for the west region, with Waldbauer also finishing the regular season as the Division II leader in his event.
As mentioned, Waldbauer was the No. 1-ranked athlete in the javelin in the region with his mark of 72.38 meters from the Idaho State Bengal Invitational at the end of April.Â
Burr led the region in the hammer with his mark of 55.51 meters that he set at the GNAC Outdoor Championships. Hendry followed at fifth in the event with his toss of 53.09 meters from the Team 4 Titus & Ely Invitational.
Schmidt was fourth regionally in the decathlon with a score of 6488 points at the GNAC Outdoor Championships and fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.06 meters at the NNU Invite.
Herbert was fifth in the West in both the shot put and the hammer, with a mark of 13.63 meters in the shot set at the GNAC Outdoor Championships and 49.65 meters in the hammer at the NNU Invite.
Koch finished fourth regionally in the high jump, with her top mark of 1.69 meters coming at the Team 4 Titus & Ely Invitational.
Burr, Hendry, Schmidt, and Herbert each also earned regional honors for the indoor season.
