ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball could not overcome a slow start at Central Washington on Thursday, falling to the Wildcats 93-70.
How It Happened
- The Nighthawks started slow, with Central Washington racing out to a 37-8 advantage after 12 minutes of action.
- The CWU lead expanded to as many as 32 in the first half, but NNU brought it back down to 28, 53-25, at the break.
- NNU came out strong in the second half, opening with a 14-2 run and eventually cutting the deficit to just 13, 61-48, on a James Nelson layup with 13:28 to play.
- That was as close as the Nighthawks would come, though, as the CWU lead stayed between 14-20 for most of the rest of the game.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU falls to 3-4 in GNAC play and 5-7 overall on the season.
- George Reidy led NNU with a career-high 27 points, going 11-19 from the field and adding seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
- Tru Allen added 18 points, shooting 7-10 from the field and 2-4 from deep.
- James Nelson was the other Nighthawk in double figures with 13 points, adding 11 rebounds for a double-double.
- Only five Nighthawks, the five starters, scored in the game, as Christian Rose had eight and Kobe Terashima had four.

The Nighthawks are done for the week with just the one contest, and will now return home for three games next week against Saint Martin's on Tuesday, Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, and Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday.
