Nighthawks Take Care of Business at WOU

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball took care of business in their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, defeating Western Oregon 72-64.

How It Happened

The game started slow, with WOU taking a 10-6 lead after the first six minutes. NNU then came alive, going on a 14-0 run that culminated in back-to-back triples from James Nelson, putting the Nighthawks up 20-10 at the 10:35 mark.

NNU maintained that lead for the rest of the half, going into halftime up 35-25.

Western Oregon would cut the deficit to five, 43-38, with 13:47 to play, but NNU responded with a 9-2 run to go back up by 12 on a three from Timothy TenKley.

The Wolves cut the lead to single digits a few more times, but the Nighthawks were finally able to start pulling away with five minutes left, taking a 15-point lead at 70-55 with 2:07 remaining.

WOU made a couple of shots in the final seconds, but it was far too little, too late as the Nighthawks held on for the eight-point win.
