NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene volleyball was able to take one set from the 9
th-ranked Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Saturday, but fell to UAA 20-25, 25-23, 14-25, 21-25.
NNU falls to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in GNAC play.
How It Happened
The Seawolves jumped out to a hot start with a 6-1 lead, but NNU was able to slowly chip away and eventually come within two at 20-18. UAA got the next two points, though, and would take a 25-20 set victory.
Set two started very similarly, with UAA going up 5-1 and eventually 9-3. The Nighthawks then rallied, however, scoring five in a row and 12 of the next 14 to take a 15-11 lead. UAA made a late run to cut the deficit 24-23, but NNU was able to finalize the set win with a kill from
Natalie Sullivan.
Once again, the Seawolves jumped out to an early lead, this time at 8-1. It would be far too much for the Nighthawks to overcome this time, as UAA won the set 25-14.
NNU was finally able to stop UAA from a hot start in set four, with the teams keeping it close throughout the frame. UAA would go on a 5-2 run late, though, pulling away for the 25-21 win.
