BURNABY, B.C. – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer lost 2-1 to Simon Fraser on Saturday.
The conclusion of this match brings the Nighthawks record to 6-2-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the GNAC.
How it Happened
The Red Leafs kept constant pressure on the Nighthawks with six shots in the first half. The last of those six shots came in the 40
th minute of the game when the Red Leafs scored their first goal.
SFU continued with pressure in the second half as they had seven shots in the first seven minutes of the period. All these shots were either off target or saved by
Sawyer Price. In the 59
th minute of the game, though, the Red Leafs struck again to gain a 2-0 lead over the Nighthawks.
NNU would not go down without a fight as
Jonathan Cardona scored on an assist from
Ethan Atterberry to make the score 2-1 in the 85
th minute of the game. That was all that NNU would get, however, as they suffered their first GNAC defeat.
