SEATTLE – Northwest Nazarene women's volleyball opened GNAC play at Seattle Pacific on Thursday, falling to the Falcons 3-1.
After SPU took the first two frames by scores of 25-17 and 25-19, the Nighthawks bounced back in the third set with a come-from-behind 26-24 win.
Trailing 22-20 in that third set, NNU scored six of the final seven points, starting with a
Mattisyn Cope kill. After an ace from
Megan MacKinney and a kill from
Brooke Foster, SPU got their two points of the stretch to make it 24-23. NNU bounced back to take the set, though, with another three-point swing on another Foster kill, a Falcon error, and finally an ace from
Maren Dent.
The momentum would not carry over to the fourth frame, however, as SPU took the set 25-21.
Foster led the way offensively with 17 kills, followed by
Anna Gable and
Natalie Sullivan with eight apiece.
Mckenzie Lee added 29 assists and three blocks, while Dent picked up three aces.
Caroline McMahon anchored the defense with 18 digs and
Tayler Markland stood tall at the net with six blocks.
NNU will continue GNAC play in Billings on Saturday when they take on MSUB at 1:00 p.m.
