ODESSA, Texas - Northwest Nazarene men's soccer kicked off their Texas trip with a victory on Thursday, scoring three times in the second half to down Texas Permian Basin 3-0.
With the win, the Nighthawks climb back above .500 at 3-2-0 on the year. UTPB falls to 1-4-1.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, despite 10 total shots between the two teams.
It didn't take long for NNU to get on the board in the second period, however, as
Lorenzo Valentini broke the scoreless tie with his first goal of the season in the 50th minute.Â
Lukas Juodkunaitis also picked up his first tally of the year when he doubled the Nighthawk advantage just eight minutes later.
Nils Knosala capped the NNU second-half barrage with just four minutes to play, scoring his second goal of the young season.
NNU ended up outpacing UTPB in shots on frame by just one attempt, 8-7, but keeper
Sawyer Price turned aside all seven of the Falcon attempts to post his second clean sheet of the year.
The Nighthawks will now make the trek from Odessa to Canyon, where they will take on West Texas A&M on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Central.
