Late Goal not Enough as NNU Falls at #6 West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas - Northwest Nazarene men's soccer got a late goal from Sullivan Smith but fell to No. 6 West Texas A&M 2-1 on Saturday in the Lone Star State. 

The goal was the first of the freshman's collegiate career, coming in the 86th minute off an assist from Jimmy Koufidakis. 

It would not be enough, however, as the strong West Texas side got a pair of goals from Giancarlo Saldana, one in each half, to earn the one-goal win.

Sawyer Price did an incredible job of keeping the Nighthawks in the game, making a career-high 11 saves across the 90 minutes of action. 

With a 3-3 record after completing nonconference action, NNU will now take next week off before opening GNAC play at home on September 30 against Western Washington.
