BILLINGS, Mont. – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer improved their season-opening win streak to seven games on Thursday, defeating Montana State Billings 4-0 on the road.
The win comes a few weeks after the Nighthawks defeated the Yellowjackets at home by the same score.
NNU is now 7-0-0 on the season, marking their best start in program history and also achieving their highest ranking ever at No. 13 nationally.
The Nighthawks spread the goals out offensively, with four different players scoring and three picking up assists. NNU scored two goals in both halves.
Kailyn LaBrosse got the scoring started with her first goal of the season, finishing a great through ball from
Carolyn Moravec to put NNU up in the 18
th minute. Moravec would get into the scoring column as well, tallying her third goal of the year in the 24
th minute on a header off a corner from
Magda Wronski.
Fresh off her United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week honor,
McKenzie Buell tapped in her third goal of the season off a cross from
Ashley Parton in the 48
th minute to make it 3-0.
The final tally came in the 68
th minute, as
Makayla Roggow converted a penalty kick to give NNU the four-goal lead that would hold the rest of the way.
Alexis Montoya played all 90 minutes in goal, making one save and earning her third shutout of the season.
NNU put nine of their 15 shots on goal in the game, while holding MSUB to just two shots in the contest and only one on frame.
The Nighthawks will look to keep the streak going on Saturday when they take on NAIA-member Carroll College for a neutral-site match in Billings at noon.
