NNU Defeats Carroll, Improves to 8-0

BILLINGS, Mont. - Northwest Nazarene women's soccer earned the fourth-straight shutout and eighth-straight win on Saturday, defeating Carroll College 2-0.

The 13th-ranked Nighthawks are now 8-0 on the season, off to their best start in program history. Of the eight wins, five have been shutouts, and NNU allowed just one goal in each of the other three games. Overall on the year, the Nighthawks have outscored opponents 23-3.

The first half of today's match was tightly contested, with neither team finding the back of the net and each registering three shots.

NNU finally broke through in the 53rd minute, when McKenzie Buell beat the Carroll keeper off a feed from Carolyn Moravec to make it 1-0.

The second goal would not take much time to come after that, as Ashley Parton was able to tap in a corner kick cross from Makayla Roggow to double the lead seven minutes later.

The Nighthawks were able to make a lot more happen offensively in the second half, posting 13 shots and eight on goal in the final 45 minutes. For the game, NNU also had an 8-2 advantage in corners.

Alexis Montoya got the win and her fifth shutout, saving the only Carroll shot that came on frame.

NNU will next head to Lacey, Wash. on April 15th and 17th for a pair of matches against Saint Martin's.
