NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene volleyball couldn't carry over the momentum from yesterday's sweep of Alaska Fairbanks, falling to the Nanooks on Saturday in five sets.
The match served as Senior Day for the Nighthawks' two graduating members,
Abbey Blum and
Casey Kispert.
The first set was close the whole way, until NNU took a small lead late but UAF scored the final three points to take it 26-24. The Nighthawks bounced back in sets two and three, though, blasting the Nanooks 25-12 in the second frame before taking a 25-18 victory in set three.
NNU could not close it out, however, falling in set four 25-19 and then in the final frame 15-6.
The Nighthawks played very well in the first three sets, hitting over .350 as a team in all three. A trio of Nighthawks finished with double-digit kills, as
Natalie Sullivan led with 13 and Blum and
Brooke Foster both had 11.
Caroline McMahon led with 23 digs and
Molly Anderson added 17, while
Tayler Markland had six blocks to go with eight kills.
NNU moves to 6-8 on the season with one match left to play, visiting Seattle Pacific next Saturday.
