NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene volleyball couldn't get much going on Saturday against the visiting Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks, falling in three sets.
How It Happened
- NNU and UAF battled back and forth for the entire first set, with 11 tie scores and eight lead changes in the frame, but it was the Nanooks who pulled away at the end for a 25-23 victory.
- UAF came out strong in set two and led for most of the way, hitting .282 as a team and eventually taking a 25-18 win.
- In the final frame, NNU battled hard and held a late lead, but UAF stormed back again to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU notched more digs than UAF, picking up 61 to the Nanooks' 58.
- Caroline McMahon led the way on the defensive side, recording 20 of those digs.
- Sarah Lyons came off the bench in the third set to lead the team with three block assists.
- Natalie Sullivan led the Nighthawk offense yet again with 14 kills, followed by Tayler Markland with nine.
Up Next
NNU will head back out on the road for two games next week, visiting Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday. NNU will then wrap up their season at home the following week with Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific.
