NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer went 110 minutes with a tough Western Oregon side on Saturday afternoon, ending in a 2-2 draw against the Wolves.
How It Happened
- NNU tallied first, as a penalty was given to the Nighthawks in the 32nd minute after a foul in the box and Madison Grande stepped right up to bury it in the back of the net.
- WOU evened things up just before halftime, however, as Alyssa Talkington scored with just 22 seconds before the horn.
- The Nighthawks retook the lead 10 minutes into the second period, as Sierra Sanchez fought through two defenders to put NNU up 2-1.
- WOU didn't back down, though, equalizing nine minutes later as Kaytlyn Larsen tallied with a header to make it 2-2.
- Both teams had chances over the final 25 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of extra time, but neither could find the game-winning goal.
Nighthawks Notes
- Grande extended her team scoring lead with her fourth goal of the year, twice as many as the next Nighthawk. She also had her first assist of the year to make it nine points for the sophomore.
- Sanchez is now one of two Nighthawks with two goals on the season, joining McKenzie Buell.
- NNU outshot WOU by a slim margin, taking 15 to the Wolves' 12, with each team putting eight attempts on target.
- Alexis Montoya made six saves in goal for the Nighthawks.
