NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer got back to their winning ways on Thursday with a 2-0 defeat of Saint Martin's.
How It Happened
- Not much happened over the first 40 minutes, with the teams each putting just three shots on goal.
- NNU broke through just before halftime, though, as Madison Grande added to the highlight reel with a laser from 30 yards out that went over the keeper's head and into the upper right corner of the net.
- The Nighthawks added an insurance goal with 10 minutes left in the match, as Ashley Parton fired in a cross from the far side that was knocked into the net by an SMU defender for an own goal.
Nighthawks Notes
- The win snapped a three-game skid for the Nighthawks, who improve to 4-3-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the GNAC.
- Grande's goal was her third of the season and gives her the team lead for the year.
- Kailyn LaBrosse picked up the assist on the score, her first of the year.
- NNU outshot SMU 16-8 in the game and 6-4 on goal.
- Alexis Montoya earned her 14th career shutout, making four saves.
