BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer very nearly found a late equalizer, but fell to Western Washington 1-0 on the road on Saturday night.
How It Happened
- WWU got on the board early, scoring in just the ninth minute when Teagan Eldridge put the home team on top.
- Neither team had many other chances in the opening half, with WWU holding a slight 4-2 advantage in shots (2-1 on goal).
- There weren't too many more opportunities to be had in the second period, with the Nighthawks only managing three more attempts.
- NNU nearly tied things up at the buzzer, but a last-second chance was waived off as time expired just before a Nighthawk header crossed the goal line.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU falls to 6-7 on the year and 3-4 in GNAC play as they suffer their third straight tough defeat.
- The Nighthawks put up a great effort despite playing 225 minutes in three consecutive days – nearly 45 minutes on Thursday at Simon Fraser before the fog postponement, a full 90 against SFU yesterday, and now 90 more against WWU.
- Lukas Juodkunaitis had three of NNU's five shots, putting one on frame.
- Sawyer Price had three saves in goal for NNU, playing all 90 minutes.
