POINT LOMA, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team lost 2-1 on Saturday to Point Loma Nazarene in a nonconference game.

Maddy Parton scored with 19 seconds remaining in the game on an assist from
McKenzie Buell, striking the ball into the upper left corner of the net.
"We purposely scheduled hard this weekend to prepare against top competition," NNU coach
Mary Trigg said. "We did a lot of things well and fought until the very end. Today better prepared us for conference play next week."
Point Loma's Julia Glaser scored in the 54th minute and Rachell Carrell in the 81st minute. The Nighthawks (3-3 overall) were outshot 21-9, including 9-4 on goal.
Alexis Montoya made seven saves in goal.
NNU returns to Idaho to open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. The Nighthawks host Seattle Pacific at 5 p.m. Thursday and Western Oregon at 2 p.m. Saturday.
