MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team swept Western Oregon on Thursday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference road match.
The Nighthawks won 25-20, 25-19, 25-11 to win their second match in a row.
"In Set 2, we were up by a lot and they came back and made it close," NNU coach
Doug English said. "How we responded and played really solid volleyball when we haven't been playing well in Set 3s was the best thing we did tonight."
Natalie Sullivan had eight kills with just one error on 19 swings to lead the offense.
"We played a pretty clean, error-free match tonight," English said. "Especially on offense and that helped us win by a lot."
Every healthy player on the roster saw action in the match, including
Taylor Jones and
Casey Kispert.
Caroline McMahon, a defensive specialist this season, even got a few swings in.
"They put in the work every day in practice, so it's fun to reward them with playing time," English said. "It was nice to see us take care of business."
Abbey Blum added eight kills and five digs,
Brooke Foster had seven kills, nine digs and three aces,
Megan Nelson finished with 22 assists and eight digs and
Kayla Sale had 16 digs.
The Nighthawks (12-12 overall, 8-9 GNAC) play their final road match of the season at 8 p.m. MST on Saturday at Concordia.
