BILLINGS, Mont. – The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team dropped a tough game 1-0 on Saturday at Montana State Billings in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.
Playing in 35-degree weather with snow on the sidelines, the Nighthawks (5-5-1 overall, 2-2-1 GNAC) struggled to break through the Yellowjackets' defense.
After NNU defeated Billings 4-0 last week in Nampa, the Yellowjackets (4-4-2, 3-2-0) packed the defensive side of the field and the strategy paid off.
"Billings is good at playing for sets and they did a good job of scoring on a corner," NNU coach
Mary Trigg said. "We struggled to bounce back and break down their numbers they had sitting in. We still had chances, but need to get a little cleaner on the ball."
Alexis Montoya made three saves in goal.
NNU had 13 shots, but just three on goal as they couldn't overcome a goal by Summer Miles in the 26th minute.
NNU returns home to host Concordia at 5 p.m. Thursday as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
