AZUSA, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team was swept by Cal State San Bernardino on Friday at the West Region Showcase at Azusa Pacific.
The Nighthawks (0-6) lost 26-11, 25-17, 25-21 to the one-loss Coyotes, who are ranked No. 9 in the country.
"This is the best team we played all year and in the third set we played really well," NNU coach
Doug English said. "We killed balls, blocked and dug. It was exciting to see us play that wasy against a very good volleyball team."
NNU is back in action at 1 p.m. MDT on Saturday facing host Azusa Pacific.
Abbey Blum and
Brooke Foster each had eight kills to lead the Nighthawks.
Shayli Siegfreid added 19 digs,
Kayla Sale had 10 digs and three kills,
Mckenzie Lee had 16 assists,
Megan Nelson had 11 assists and six digs.
"Our serving and passing were much cleaner," English said. "Shayli, Cami and Kayla did a really good job. We had been getting aced a lot, but we didn't tonight. Shayli had a really good defensive match for us and kept us in points.
"This is a good way to end and get some momentum going into Azusa (Saturday).
