NNU falls in five sets to MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team lost in five sets at Montana State Billings on Thursday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match.

The Nighthawks (4-13 overall, 4-6 GNAC) led 2-1, but couldn't close out the victory in the 25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 25-16, 15-11 loss.

"MSUB played really well," NNU coach Doug English said. "They out dug us and out blocked us and played really hard, making it hard for us to score points. We had chances in the fifth set and we didn't execute very well. We hit negative in that set and it is hard to win when you do that."

Cami Heninger had 13 kills, 16 digs and a .323 attacking percentage. Natalie Knauf had 10 kills and a .286 attacking percentage, while Tayler Markland added nine kills, Kayla Sale had eight and Brooke Foster and Abbey Blum each had six.

"Our middles hit well," English said. "We tried to push the middle of the court. We are excited to get back into the gym and take on the second half of the season."

Megan Nelson had 26 assists and three aces, Mckenzie Lee had 22 assists and 11 digs and Shayli Siegfreid had 21 digs.

NNU is back in action Thursday at Simon Fraser.
