Nighthawks fall 5-0 to the Clan

BURNABY, B.C. – The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team lost 5-0 to Simon Fraser on Thursday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match.

Emma Pringle scored twice for the Clan, once in the 17th minute and once in the 34th. Simon Fraser (7-3-1 overall, 5-1-1 GNAC) added goals in the 32nd, 57th and 82nd minutes.

The Nighthawks (7-5-1, 3-5-0) had seven shots, including three on goal but couldn't find the back of the net.

"We didn't show up today," NNU coach Mary Trigg said, "and in the GNAC, especially against a team like Simon Fraser, you get punished."

The loss damages NNU's playoff hopes as they have three conference wins, which puts them in sixth place. The top four teams advance to the GNAC tournament.

Chloe Sholtz made three saves in goal, while Mikayla Sherer saw her first action of the season and made two saves in the second half.

The Nighthawks play at Western Washington at 8 p.m. MDT on Saturday.
