NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team lost 92-75 to San Francisco State on Saturday, dropping their first game of the season.
The Nighthawks (3-1) shot just 36.5 percent from the field, while giving up 15 3-pointers to the Gators at Johnson Sports Center.
"We've got to become a better defensive team with our consistency," NNU coach
Paul Rush said. "We are good in spurts and not good in the long run. We've got to figure out how to come out with better energy in the second half as well."
Maurice Jones, who was named to the NNU Invitational first team, had 26 points and 12 rebounds. It is the fourth consecutive double-double for the NNU big man.
Joining Jones on the first team were Concordia's Jarrett Gray and Cody Starr, SFSU's Warren Jackson and Academy of Art's Cole Morgan. Concordia won both of its games, including defeating Academy of Art 78-71 in the opener Saturday.
For the Nighthawks, Obi Megwa had 13 points, Khalil Thompson had 12 and
