NAMPA, Idaho -
Lindsay Brady scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half as the Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Saint Martin's University 79-60 on Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
The Crusaders (15-6, 5-5 GNAC) took a four-point lead into the half (35-31), and led by just five (57-52) with 8:51 remaining, but three treys and an old-fashioned three-point-play by Brady sandwiched around a Dara Zack jumper fueled an 11-2 run that pushed the NNU lead into double-figures for the first time at 66-54 with 6:13 left to play.
Saint Martin's (8-13, 2-8 GNAC) was led by Roni Jo Mielke with 17, while Krissy Bassett scored 13 and Jamey Gelhar added 11. Zack finished with five points and seven rebounds, leading the Saint's efforts on the glass.
The Crusaders out-rebounded SMU 36-23 and shot 52.7-percent (29-55) from the floor and 50-percent (11-22) from the three point line. Olds led the Crusaders long-range efforts, going four-of-five from the arc.
NNU handed out 23 assists against 16 turnovers, led by
Kristin Hein, who finished with a game-high seven assists and also scored seven and grabbed six rebounds.
The Crusaders will have Saturday off and then travel to Central Washington next Thursday and Montana State University Billings one week from today.
