NAMPA, Idaho - Opening exhibition play in front of the 2010 NNU Homecoming crowd the Northwest Nazarene men's basketball team cruised to a 97-57 victory over Pacific University on Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
With the Homecoming crowd lending support and the induction of Crusader legend Monty Lee into the NNU Athletic Hall of Fame prior to tip-off, seven Crusaders reached double-figures in the season-opening win.
Egwuonwu and Barkdoll each posted double-doubles as Barkdoll had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Egwuonwu had 11 points and an impressive 17 rebounds.
"I felt our guys really played hard today and gave a good defensive effort," commented NNU head coach Tim Hills.
Pacific's Adam McElwee led all scorer's with 17 points, nailing four three-pointers and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Both Robby Babek and Colin Wester scored eight.
NNU out-rebounded the Boxers 58-31, shot 50.8-percent (32-63) from the floor, and knocked down six-of-17 three point attempts. Pacific finished 19-of-71 (26.8-percent) from the floor and five-of-22 (22.7-percent) from the arc.
The Crusaders will play their final exhibition game on Tuesday night in the first United Heritage Tip-Off Series game of 2010, traveling to The College of Idaho for a 7:07 p.m. tip-off against the Coyotes.
