NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team shot 73.1-percent from the floor to capture an 87-73 victory over UC-Colorado Springs on Saturday night in the final game of the 2008 Shilo Inn & Suites Classic, hosted by NNU at the Johnson Sports Center.

 

NNU went 32-for-46 from the floor and 11-of-19 from the three point line to improve to 5-2 overall.  Kendall Gielow led all scorers with 20 points and headlined a group of five Crusaders into double-figures.

 

Joel Ryman hit four triples and finished with 15, Adam Shildmyer scored 14, and both Tyler Roberts (4-4) and Brian Barkdoll (6-6) were perfect from the field to add 13 and 12, respectively.  Roberts finished with a stat line of 13 points, eight assists, two rebounds and a steal. 

 

Chris Fernandez led the Mountain Lions (0-7) with 16 and Ben Feilmeier scored 11.  Feilmeier was three-of-eight from the arc and five UCCS players hit two or more three pointers as they went 12-of-26 from long distance.

 

Hosting the Wendy's Classic Tournament next Friday and Saturday, the Crusaders return to action against Western Montana on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.  The College of Idaho will face San Diego Christian in the opening game of the tournament at 5:30 p.m.
