BILLINGS, Mont. - The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team defeated Montana State Billings 94-69 on Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at Alterowitz Gym in Billings.

 

The Crusaders, who improve to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in GNAC play, will now travel to Seattle and face No. 17 Seattle University on Saturday at 2 p.m. PST.

 

Joel Ryman and Louie Beech both came off the bench to lead the Crusaders with 13 points each, as all 13 Crusaders scored in the contest.  Kendall Gielow and Scott Helpenstell each added 12 and combined for 14 rebounds as the Crusaders out rebounded the Yellowjackets 57-33.  Tyler Roberts had six points and six assists and logged the most minutes of any Crusader at 24.

 

Aaron Terry led the 'Jackets, who fell to 0-13 overall and 0-2 in league play, with a game-high 15 points.  Troy Ruff added 12, Jeff Minor scored 11 and Kyle Palmer netted 10.

 

NNU led 49-38 at the half but opened the second period with a 15-3 run that pushed the lead to 23 after a three pointer by Ryman with 15:17 left.  The Crusaders would lead by as many as 32 after a Matt Mgebroff jumper in the paint made it 89-57 with 3:19 remaining.  MSUB would rally to finish the final three minutes on a 12-5 run to close out the game.  Mgebroff finished with seven points and three rebounds.
