As a freshman at Corban in 2004-05, Tyler started 34 of 35 games and averaged 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds on a team that went 28-7 and received an at-large bid to the 2005 NAIA Division II national tournament.

High School
Roberts graduated from West Albany High School in 2004 where he averaged 15 points, five rebounds, and six assists as a second-team All-Valley League player for West Albany.
