Rhodes enters his second season as a Nighthawks assistant coach in the 2018-19 academic year after serving as the varsity coach for The Cordia High School in Hazard, Kentucky from 2011-17.
Cordia captured the 2016 All-A Region 14 championship, the 2016 All-A Kentucky State Tournament championship and in 2014 season had the winningest season in school history at 24-9.
Prior to his high school tenure, Rhodes served as an assistant coach at Idaho State University and the University of Texas-Pan American, and had administrative coaching roles at both Seton Hall University and University of Massachusetts.
An accomplished collegiate and professional player, Rhodes was a first-round draft pick of the Houston Rockets and a member of the NBA All-Rookie team. His professional career included time with the Rockets, Vancouver Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks, as well as international play in Athens, Greece, and in the Philippines.
His collegiate career consisted of three seasons with the University of Kentucky and his senior year at USC. In 1992 he was a McDonald’s All-American.
