Tim Onofrei

"Encourage the young men to be self-controlled.  In everything set them an example by doing what is good.  In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us."  Titus 2:6-8

Tim Onofrei begins his fourteenth season as head baseball coach at Northwest Nazarene University.

Coach Onofrei earned a bachelor’s degree in Education at Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho, where he played baseball for two years.  A two-time NAIA All-American, Coach Onofrei was named the 1996 Albertson College of Idaho Male Athlete of the Year.  His honors included NAIA National Hitter of the Week, Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Hitter of the Week, CCC Pitcher of the Week, and two-time CCC Player of the Year.  After a stellar collegiate career, Coach Onofrei was drafted in the 28th round of the MLB First Year Player Draft, where he then pitched two seasons in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

Coach Onofrei served as the Crusaders pitching coach for two seasons under head coach Brian Muir, before taking over the program in 2000.  Since then, Coach Onofrei has worked to change the culture and development of the program around five main principles:  Stewardship, Discipleship, Mission Fit, Personal Growth, and Baseball Development.

Tim and his wife Kelly have two daughters, Kaitlyn (7) Brooke (4) and live in Nampa.  Kelly teaches at Sage Valley Middle School in the Vallivue School District.
