Eric Schaffner

Eric Schaffner is in his fourth year as the pitching coach at Northwest Nazarene.

In 2008 he helped lead the pitching staff to the best overall numbers since the Crusaders transitioned from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2002.  In 2010, Coach Schaffner's pitchers bested the marks set in 2008.

A 1992 graduate of McNary High School in Keizer, Oregon, he played collegiately at Linn Benton C.C. in Albany, Oregon, in 1993 and at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas in 1994.  In June of 1994, he became the first player to be drafted in school history at Frank Phillips College as he was selected by the New York Yankees in the 14th round.

Coach Schaffner pitched for five seasons in the Yankee organization and also for the Bonn Capitals of the German Bundesliga First Division in 2002.

In 2005 he graduated from Global University in Springfield, Mo. with a B.A. in Bible and Theology.  Prior to coming to NNU, Eric served 3 years as the Young Adults Pastor at Peoples Church in Salem, Oregon.

Coach Schaffner and his wife of eleven years, Kim live in Nampa and have two children, a son Michael (4), and daughter Isabella (2).
