Omaha Tournaments & NNU Classics
Only turfs or molded cleats are allowed on the pitching mound. No metal spikes. No seeds and chewing gum are allowed in the dugout and on the playing field. Parents in the fan area, please use cups for spitting your seeds.
The Home team will be the second team listed on the schedule for the Classic tournaments. A coin toss will determine home and away for all Omaha bracket games. If there is an "If Necessary" game, the home team will be the team who were visitors the first game.
Pitching Guidelines - It is up to all coaches to manage the pitchers on their team.
Time Limit - No new inning will be allowed to start after 2 hours and 5 minutes. The official start time is when the first pitch is thrown.
Bat - Metal (drop 3) or Wood
Batting Lineup - You can hit 9 or 10 with an EH.
Substitutions - You can make substitutions on defense at any time without reporting to the umpire. You must report to the umpire if you make an offensive substitution. A courtesy runner can be used for the catcher and pitcher with 2 outs in the inning.
Run Rule - There will be a 10 run rule after 5 innings played and an 8 run rule after 6 innings played.
One Team Rule - A player cannot play on two different teams during the tournament. Once a player competes in a game for one team, they must only play for that team for the duration of the tournament.
Tie-Breakers:
*If a game is tied after 7 innings of play, we will be using the MLB Tie Breaker rule. The visiting team will hit first and put their previous hitter in their lineup at second base. After playing that half inning, the home team will then hit under the same format. Teams will play one extra inning in seeding games. In bracket play, teams will play until there is a winner.
*If teams are tied in the standings after pool play, the deciding factors will be
1) Head to Head
2) Fewest runs given up
3) Runs scored
4) Hottest team (whoever lost most recently is out). For example, if two teams are 2-2, and one team won their last 2 and the other team lost their last two, the team who won their last 2 advances.
5) Coin flip
NNU Classics - Each team will play two games over the first two days of the tournament that will seed them into a single elimination bracket. Bracket play will be played over the last three days of the tournament. If you lose your first bracket game, you will get one consolation game.
Omaha Tournaments - 8 Team Format- There will be two separate double elimination brackets of four teams. The winners of each bracket will play each other in a one-game championship. If a team loses their first two games, they will get two consolation games. 9 Team Format- There will be three pools of three teams each. Each team will play both teams in their pool. The three pool winners will all advance to the Final Four, along with one wild card as the fourth seed. Seedings will be based off of tie-breaker rules listed above. Those teams that do not make the Final 4, they will get two consolation games. Losers in the first round of the Final 4 will play each other for their 4th game.
Fourth of July and Labor Day Blasts
Only turfs or molded cleats are allowed on the pitching mound. No metal spikes. No seeds and chewing gum are allowed in the dugout and on the playing field. Parents in the fan area, please use cups for spitting your seeds.
The Home team will be the second team listed on the schedule. Each team will be guaranteed four games and will be matched up against teams of similar age group. There will be no bracket play or championship game.
- No new inning after 2 hours and 5 minutes.
- Teams can sub anytime they want on defense without reporting to the umpire.
- Teams must hit at least 9, and can hit as many as they want. Offensive substitutions must be reported to the umpire. Players can re-enter the lineup, but only in the same spot in the order.
- 13U players can use -5 bats. 14U-18U must use -3
- If/when a team scores 3 runs in an inning, the remaining hitters that inning must reach 2B in order to get a hit. 2B becomes the new 1B (double or nothing). Also, all baserunners occupying a base also need to advance two bases when the ball is put in play. Examples: 1) A ground ball to 3B can just be thrown to second base for the out. 2) Runner on first, less than two outs, a ground ball can be thrown to second to complete a double play (retires both the runner and the hitter who has to reach second base to be safe).
- Teams can add a 10th defender after 2 outs in each inning. (10 seconds to do so)
- Foul balls that are caught in the air, are an out. This includes players/coaches/fans not in the game. Baserunners cannot tag and advance on balls caught by anyone but the nine or ten defenders on the field. Ex. A fan catches a foul ball hit out of play, it's an out. Ex. A coach catches a foul ball hit into the dugout, it's an out.
- Players can catch any foul balls off the backstop netting for an out.
- Only one mound visit per game by player or coach is allowed. If a coach crosses the foul line or a player enters the pitching circle, the other team gets to put a runner on the first unoccupied base. Ex. If the current situation is a runner on 1B, the offense can then put a runner on 2B.
- Tie-breaker - If there are extra innings, each team starts their inning with bases loaded and 2 outs. This is repeated until there is a winner.
