PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Atheltic Conference has announced Abby Black and Jenna Holm as this week's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

The Nighthawks are coming off a 2-0 week where they defeated both Saint Martin's (3-0) and Western Oregon (3-1) on Thursday and Saturday.

Black was named Offensive Player of the Week after another strong week, finishing with 31 kills and a .325 kill efficiency. Black was the go-to attacker for the Nighthawks, totaling 15 kills against Saint Martin's with a .433 kill efficiency and 16 kills against Western Oregon with a .216 kill efficiency. The Wenatchee, Wash. native put together 4.57 kills per set over the week and totaled 81 total attacks.

Black has established herself as one of the GNAC's top attackers as she sits at second in kills with 194 and kills per set with 3.80.

Jenna Holm earns the defensive honor after playing a key role at the net for the Nighthawks. Holm tallied 19 total blocks over the two matches against Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. Holm averaged 1.43 blocks per set as she improved her season total to 1.00 blocks per set, ranking seventh in the GNAC. Holm has totaled 51 blocks in 51 sets to rank fifth in the GNAC and has had at least four blocks in the last six matches.

The Nighthawks currently have a 9-4 overall record, are 3-3 in GNAC play, and sit in fourth place in the conference. NNU has won three straight, including an upset win over RV Alaska Anchorage last Saturday, and will look to stay hot against second-place Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Montana State Billings on Saturday.
