NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene Athletics is proud to announce the selection of Amanda (Merrell) Peters and Carlos Antràs Solé as the newest members of the NNU Athletic Hall of Fame.

They competed at a high level, excelled in the classroom and represented our university with character throughout their time on campus and beyond. We couldn't be happier to recognize their accomplishments with induction into the NNU Athletic Hall of Fame."

Amanda Peters and Carlos Antràs Solé will be added to the NNU Athletics Hall of Fame during the 2026 NNU Homecoming Weekend in November. Peters and Antràs Solé will be the 56th and 57th entrants into the NNU Athletic Hall of Fame.

There will be a ceremony at halftime of the men's basketball game against Walla Walla on Saturday, Nov. 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Amanda Peters, Women's Soccer and Track & Field

Peters was born and raised in Spokane, Washington and played multiple sports throughout high school. Competing in soccer, basketball, and track, she knew it would be a challenge to continue all three of those at the collegiate level. "Once her sister, Leah Merrell Gilbert, and her sister's collegiate track coach, John Spatz, made the move from Eastern Oregon University to Northwest Nazarene, her choice became simple. She knew NNU was where she wanted to be, and that fall, she stepped foot on the Nampa campus."

"I was grateful for the opportunity to compete in indoor and outdoor track and field at NNU." said Peters "Yet God had an even better plan in store for me. I was able to sign on to the soccer team as well to play in goal." Just like that, Amanda Peters was a two-sport collegiate athlete.

Peters holds the record in the heptathlon with 4654 points in 2006. Additionally she was a standout goalkeeper earning Second Team All-GNAC honors in 2006 and 2007 and Honorable Mention honors in 2004 and 2005. Her accolades kept coming as she earned CoSIDA (now CSC) Academic All-District honors in 2006 and 2007 with Academic All-GNAC honors from 2005-2007. She holds multiple single season top-10 rankings while also holding the fifth best goals against average in program history with 1.54.

Amanda met her husband, Andy, at Northwest Nazarene and they were married in June of 2007. They currently live in Anchorage, Alaska where Andy is a family practice physician. Together they have three girls Clara, Lydia, and Molly. Amanda serves as the special projects lead at Awaken Church. 

Carlos Antràs Solé, Men's Soccer

Carlos Antràs Solé was born in Barcelona but was reborn at NNU and Nampa. "NNU is my alma mater. Barcelona, Spain is my biological birthplace, but NNU and Nampa are my spiritual birthplace, as I like to say." said Antràs Solé, "The connection, affection, and love I have for NNU are difficult to put into words."

Antràs Solé found himself in the Treasure Valley during the 1989-90 academic year when he came from Barcelona to Nampa as an international exchange student at Nampa High School, a place he had never heard of before. "I still remember that hot Mediterranean summer day in 1989 when I was told I was going to Nampa, Idaho. 'Nampa, Idaho?  What is that?'" said Antràs Solé. He looked at a map and looked for quite some time before finally finding Idaho. However, he still had yet to find Nampa. 

Carlos joined the Nampa High School soccer team under Coach Kelly Bokn, an NNU graduate, and had the opportunity to meet Coach Art Horwood. The first thing Carlos noticed about Coach Horwood was that he seemed much more interested in him as a person rather than just a soccer player, and that made a lasting impact on him. Antràs Solé decided to enroll at Northwest Nazarene in the fall of 1990 and start his freshman year. 

Northwest Nazarene made such a lasting impact on Carlos, that he brought his two sisters so they could experience the community that had been so meaningful to him. During his time as a student, he was very involved in student government, athletics, and various student groups and associations.

That was just the start for Antràs Solé as he would earn NAIA District 2 All-Conference honors in 1990 and 1992 while also being named an NAIA Academic All-American in 1992 and 1993.

"For me, being inducted into the Hall of Fame means something very special. I am not entering this Hall alone. All the people who accompanied, supported, encouraged, and believed in me since my NNU days are entering this Hall with me. We have been on this journey together. That is how I perceive this honor. To me, it is a way of acknowledging and recognizing every person in the NNU and Nampa community who invested in my life and helped shape the person I became. Carlos lives in Mainz, Germany and has a daughter, Laura, who is currently studying elementary education at the University of Cologne in Germany. Carlos currently works for an NGO after having spent almost 30 years at Nestlé Corporation.
