Williamson Resigns Position as Men's Soccer Coach

NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene University Director of Athletics Paul Rush has announced that men's soccer coach James Williamson is resigning to accept the Director of Athletics position at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington.

"James has done a tremendous job pouring into the lives of our men's soccer student athletes over the last three years. We are so thankful for the time and dedication he has given NNU and I am excited for the leadership he is going to bring Peninsula."

Williamson was announced as the head coach of the men's soccer program in April of 2023.

Williamson coached 20 All-GNAC selections, including five first-team selections. Derek Johnson was named the 2025 Newcomer of the Year. Johnson and Ryan McPherson each earned second-team All-West Region recognition in 2025.

Julio Castillo has been named interim head coach, and a search for the next NNU men's soccer coach will begin immediately.
