PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC has announced the weekly award winners for baseball from March 16-22.
Kaleb Karpstein and
Corbin Talley earned Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.
Kaleb Karpstein tallied six hits in a four game series against MSU Billings which included two home runs and five RBIs. Karpstein went 6-for-11 (.545) over those four games and drew four walks in a 14-6 win to cap off the series.
"Kaleb came up clutch for us several times this weekend. He drove in runs in big moments and it felt like he was on base all weekend long. We don't win the series without his big weekend."
- Joe Schaefer, NNU Head Baseball Coach
Corbin Talley did his work on the mound as the Redshirt Senior threw a complete game shutout on Friday with 10 strikeouts while only allowing three hits en route to a 5-0 win.Â
"Corbin had his best outing of the season against MSUB. He was the most efficient he has been all year getting ahead in the count, and he was able to put guys away with two strikes often."
- Joe Schaefer, NNU Head Baseball Coach
The Nighthawks sit atop the GNAC with a 21-9 overall record and an 11-1 record in GNAC play. NNU will travel to Ellensburg, Washington to play Central Washington on Friday and Saturday.Â
