| By:
NAMPA, Idaho - The NNU Athletics Hall of Fame committee has selected two Northwest Nazarene volleyball alums for induction in the 2025 class.

Cheri (Dailey) Taliaferro and Lisa (Erickson) Sliger will be added to the NNU Athletics Hall of Fame during the 2025 NNU Homecoming Weekend in November. Taliaferro and Sliger will be the 54th and 55th entrants into the prestigious hall.

"I'm excited to announce the 2025 Hall of Fame Class and recognize these two incredible women who have represented our university so well," said Director of Athletics Paul Rush. "They were both crucial to Northwest Nazarene volleyball's success in the 90s and remain at the top of the program's record books in multiple categories to this day.

A ceremony will take place at halftime of the men's basketball game against Carroll College on Saturday, Nov. 8 (game starts at 7:00 p.m.). Receptions will also be held for each inductee during the game in the Dillabaugh and Ferdinand Suites at the Johnson Sports Center. Friends and family are invited to attend the induction ceremonies and greet the honorees at the receptions.

Cheri (Dailey) Taliaferro, Volleyball
Cheri was a member of the NNC volleyball team from 1992-95, helping lead the Crusader program to new heights during her four-year career.

In 1994, Cheri was one of three Northwest Nazarene volleyball players to earn the program's first NAIA All-American honors. She received an Honorable Mention All-America nod that season and followed that up with a First Team All-America recognition in 1995, one of just five players in program history to earn First Team honors. She was named First Team All-Region in 1994 and 1995, First Team All-Cascade Conference in 1994 and 1995, and the Cascade Conference MVP in 1995. In 1994, Cheri was also a significant part of the Crusaders' first Cascade Conference title.

To this day, Cheri remains second all-time in program history with 178 service aces, fourth with 496 blocks, seventh with 1,300 kills, tied for ninth with 3.20 kills per set, and ninth with a .282 attack percentage.

Following her final season, Cheri also earned one of Northwest Nazarene's prestigious end-of-the-year honors, receiving the Hopkins-Humphrey Female Athlete of the Year accolade in 1995-96.

After graduation, Cheri played one summer of beach volleyball in Manhattan Beach and was sponsored by Body Glove. She also coached high school volleyball in Idaho for two years.

She has pursued a myriad of different careers in her professional life, including a wildland firefighter and smokejumper for 12 years, six years working in Antarctica at the South Pole Station for the National Science Foundation, and a Realtor in the state of Idaho for 15 years. She has also run her own jewelry business for 24 years, currently still a Luxury High-End Fine Jewelry Designer (Sky Studio Luxe). In addition to fine jewelry, she is also currently a coach for high-achieving women who feel lonely at the top, helping them live a life of authenticity through her 'Grit and Pixie Dust' keynote and coaching program, which launched in 2025.

After a Habitat for Humanity mission trip to Kenya in 1997, Cheri (along with 5 friends) started a 501c3 Foundation in 2020 to benefit citizens of Africa, called the Alliance for Improved Public Health in Africa (AIPHA).

She met her husband, Will, just eight days into her stint at the South Pole. Their first date was a month-long travel through New Zealand, and they spent the next decade traveling the world. They have two kids, Jack Zealand (16) and Abigail Tasman (13), and now live in Salida, Colorado, at 7300' elevation.

Lisa Erickson Sliger, Volleyball
Lisa was a member of the NNC volleyball team from 1996-99, helping the Crusaders to the highest-ever finish in program history with an NAIA National Runner-Up achievement in 1998.

She was named a First Team NAIA All-American in the following 1999 season, one of just five athletes in program history to earn a First Team All-America honor. She was also named All-Region in 1998 and 1999, All-Tournament Team in 1998, 1998-99 Cascade Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, First Team All-Cascade Conference in 1998 and 1999, and Honorable Mention All-Cascade Conference in 1997.

In Northwest Nazarene's combined side-out and rally scoring history (since 1973), Lisa is the all-time leader in three categories: total assists with 5,260 in her career, assists per set at 11.60, and service aces with 237. She is fifth in program history in career digs with 1,449, sixth in sets played at 454, and seventh in attack percentage at .303. To this day, she also remains the all-time Cascade Conference leader in both assists and service aces. In CCC single-season history, she is still first and sixth in most assists in a season and second and fourth in most aces in a season, as well a single-match Top-10 mark with 72 assists in a match in the 1997 season.

Following her final season on the court, Lisa also earned one of Northwest Nazarene's prestigious end-of-the-year honors, receiving the Hopkins-Humphrey Female Athlete of the Year accolade for 1999-2000 year. She was also a three-time recipient of the Bennett Volleyball Award, presented to the most outstanding player on the team each season.

Lisa earned her Bachelor's in Education with an Emphasis in Physical Education (K-12) and Biology (6-12) from Northwest Nazarene. She is now just a few credits away from a Master's in Physical Education from Central Washington University.

Lisa began her career in teaching after graduation, and has taught 23 years of Elementary Physical Education in the Nampa School District (Greenhurst and Owyhee), Nampa Christian Schools, and now currently with the Middleton School District at Mill Creek Elementary. She has also coached with Skyview High School as a varsity volleyball assistant, NNU as a volleyball assistant, Skyview as a varsity tennis assistant, and with Club Idaho Volleyball over the last 25 years.

She has been able to continue competing athletically following her volleyball career, as she currently plays USTA Tennis at the 4.5 level and has won Idaho district championships and traveled to Denver and Salt Lake for sectional championships.

Lisa has been married for 23 years to Jared Sliger, the previous NNU Head Volleyball Coach from 2005-12. The pair currently reside in Middleton, Idaho, and have two children, Paxton Sliger (born Sept. 2009) and Fletcher Sliger (born March 2011).
