BURNABY, B.C. - The No. 19 Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Simon Fraser on Saturday afternoon.

Simon Fraser struck twice in the opening 16 minutes to take an early lead. NNU goalkeeper Elijah Brockl made three saves in the opening half to keep the Nighthawks within striking distance as NNU entered halftime trailing 2-0.

The Nighthawks created several opportunities throughout the opening 45 minutes. Alex Barragan put a shot on goal in the 27th minute that was saved by the Simon Fraser goalkeeper, while Maddox Marcelli hit the post less than a minute later as NNU looked to cut into the deficit.

NNU continued to pressure in the second half, creating multiple chances while holding Simon Fraser off the scoreboard. Allan Huerta had a shot blocked in the 55th minute, while Illyès El Yansli had another attempt blocked in the 76th minute. David Campos also had a late shot blocked as the Nighthawks continued to push for a goal.

Brockl finished with four saves, including a final stop in the 90th minute, but NNU was unable to find the back of the net as Simon Fraser held on for the 2-0 victory.
