SALT LAKE CITY – Northwest Nazarene women's soccer opened the 2025 season with a tough road defeat on Thursday, falling at Westminster by a final score of 1-0.
Neither team had much of an advantage in the run of play, with the Griffins just edging out the Nighthawks 9-7 in total shots and 4-3 in shots on target.
It just took one of Westminster's four shots on goal finding the back of the net to decide the game, though, as the home team scored just after halftime in the 50
th minute.
Attie Jo Westbrook and
Kaslee Roskelley had two shots apiece for NNU.
Alex Barrass started in goal and tallied three saves in 73 minutes of action.
Opal Barker entered for the final 17 minutes and closed out the game between the pipes.
The Nighthawks will remain in SLC for an exhibition game against the University of Jamestown this Saturday at noon.
