Nighthawks Open GNAC Play Against The Western Washington Vikings

NAMPA, Idaho – The NNU opened home GNAC play in a home game against the Western Washington Vikings on Thursday September, 18th. In a competitive match up the teams went to four sets with the Vikings coming out on top 3-1. 

In set one the Vikings built up an early 7-1 lead. The Nighthawks looked to battle back but the WWU team held strong and took the set 25-16. 


Coming out in set two the Western Washington team looked just as strong but the Nighthawks were able to hold on. The teams traded points and then tied it up at 12-12 off of a kill by Lily Kinloch. The Vikings were able to kick it in gear later in the set and overtake the Nighthawks 25-14. 


The Nighthawks took the lead late in the third set on a kill by Kirby Kaycee. The Vikings got it within one at 22-21 but two back to back kills by Kaycee the Nighthawks took the set 25-21.


The WWU team regrouped themselves in the final set of the game and took the match to win the game 25-16. 


Abby Black led her team with 14 kills followed by Kirby Kaycee who had 10 kills. 


The Nighthawks will be back on their home court on Saturday the 20th to face off against the Simon Fraser Red Leaves. The game is set for 1:00 pm in the Johnson Sports Center,
