NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene men's soccer battled College of Idaho in an intense rivalry match on Tuesday night, with the Yotes finding a goal just after halftime that would be enough for a 1-0 win.
The game was an exhibition match for both teams, with stats and records not counting towards season totals.
Both teams managed just two shots apiece in the opening 45 minutes. Just two minutes after halftime, C of I's Pierre Fabre was given a second yellow card and resulting red card that brought the Yotes down to 10 men. They came out strong right after the stoppage, however, immediately finding a crease in NNU's defense for a go-ahead goal.
That score proved to the winner, as NNU managed just one shot on goal in the match.
Baraka Dayi registered the shot on target along with three total attempts.
The Nighthawks now get set for their regular season opener next week, traveling to Denver for a pair of games against MSU Denver on Thursday and Colorado Christian on Saturday.
