COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -
Christine Cho made Northwest Nazarene women's golf history at the GNAC Championships across April 21 and 22, becoming just the second golfer in program history to earn runner-up honors at the conference championships.
Cho finished the two rounds at a four-over 148, shooting a 75 in round one and a 73 in round two on the par-72 course. Cho, who led by one stroke after round one, matches Sam Miller in 2015 for the highest GNAC Championships finish in program history. Her score of four-over is also the best ever for an NNU women's golfer at the championships event in Coeur D'Alene.
Cho was the best player on the course on par four holes, averaging a stroke below par. She was also tied for fifth on par fives, tied for third in total pars, and tied for fifth in total birdies.
As a team, NNU placed fifth of the six GNAC squads, besting Seattle Pacific. Simon Fraser won the team title, followed by Western Washington, Montana State Billings, and Saint Martin's.
Brianna Shervik was the Nighthawks' next highest finisher, tying for 18th with a two-round score of 161. After an 84 on Monday, she improved by seven strokes on Tuesday with a 77.Â
Tora Timinsky also had a massive improvement between rounds, going from an 87 in round one to a 75 in round two. The 12-stroke difference bumped her up seven places to 20th.
Caroline Caven was next for NNU, placing 27th at 170, followed by
Challiss Potter tying for 28th at 174.
